A sizeable team of young swimmers from West Norfolk Swimming Club descended upon Norwich’s UEA SportsPark on Sunday 12th December, in order to contest the “Santa’s Splash and Dash” Open Meet hosted by Diss Otters.

Under the watchful eyes of coaches Oliver Kenny and Matthew Addis, the team brought home a substantial haul of 40 gold medals between them – seven of them delivered single handedly by Jamie Wilson.

Wilson put on a dominant display in the 12 year old boys’ category, taking victory in each of the 4 strokes across the 100 Meter distance and again in the 50 Meter events for Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly.

9 year old Toby Turner was also a key contributor to the medal tally, securing 5 golds in total, whilst Polly Anderson finished first in the girls 50 Meter Butterfly and 50 & 100 Meter Freestyle events for the same age group.

Harry Munro added another three golds to West Norfolk’s haul – doing so across the 50 Meter Butterfly and the 50 & 100 Meter Backstroke in the 11 years’ age group.

Further victories in the same age group came courtesy of Ned Steele (50 & 200 Meter Freestyle); Thomas Elsdon (100 Meter Freestyle); Belle Ringwood (50 Meter Butterfly) and Callum New (100 Meter Butterfly).

It was a similar story in the 13 year old’s age group, with three gold medals for Wiktoria Marcinek (50 Meter Freestyle and 50 & 100 Meter Backstroke); two for Thomas Garnett (50 & 100 Meter Backstroke) and one for Kristina Sutika-Totlebena (100 Meter Breaststroke)
