Pool Training
Training Times
If you're a current club member, the easiest way to see your swimmer's training times is by under Members > Training Times in Swim Manager. This will give a list of all the pool and land training times your swimmer is expected to be at.
If you are not yet a member of the club, or you'd like to see what the progression through the squads looks like, we give the times we train below:
Dress and Behaviour
Swimmers should dress in swimming kit suitable for competitive swimming - no bikinis or board shorts!
Please remember that the club is often sharing the pool and its facilities with the general public. Please be couteous and allow the public through first, and leave the public with the opinion of a really nice swim club - this isnt our leisure centre although many of us feel like we spend more time here than at our homes.
Once the training session is over, please leave the pool side promptly - the general public rightly expect to be able to get in the pool when their session begins, and not have club swimmers playing about. if you can help with packing equipment away ( lane ropes, dive blocks) then this is really appreciated.
Dryland Warmup Routines
a good warmup is key to preventing injury
Land Training
Land training is carried out at Wantage Leisure Centre or the Engine House, depending on the squad, and plays a key part in building the core strength of swimmers, enabling them to swim faster.
Dress and Behaviour
The Engine House is a private gym that is shared with paying members. Please be as courteous as you are at the leisure centre and leave the Engine House's members with a really high opinion of WWHSC.
Land Training clothing should be a t-shirt and either shorts or tracksuit bottoms. Please remember that swimmers from age 10 to adult will attend and ensure that t-shirt slogans are appropriate for that audience.
All of the equipment required is supplied by the coaches of the session -- just bring yourself, a towel if you prefer, and a water bottle.
