Burton Amateur Swimming Club (BASC) has been part of the Burton upon Trent community for over 100 years! The club traces its roots back to 1878, with a small group of swim enthusiasts who trained in local rivers and public baths. A lot has changed since then, but our passion for swimming and community spirit has stayed the same.

Today, BASC is a friendly, welcoming club where swimmers of all ages and abilities can learn, grow, and have fun in the water. Whether it’s helping younger members learn how to swim or supporting competitive swimmers on their journey to regional and national levels, we’re here for everyone.

We’re proud of our long history and the amazing swimmers, coaches, and volunteers who’ve been part of the journey over the years. They’ve helped make BASC the fun, supportive club it is today.

Now based at Meadowside Leisure Centre, we continue to focus on teamwork, confidence, and making sure everyone enjoys their time in the pool.

We love where we’ve come from—and we’re just as excited about where we’re going next!
