Straight from swimming lessons
If you have reached Swim England Learn to Swim Stage 7, and are under the age of 11, and are looking to improve your stroke technique and swim skills before progressing into our junior squads then you would typically join our teaching programme. You must be able to swim 25m frontcrawl, 25m backstroke, 25m breastroke and have experience of swimming butterfly.
Moving from another swimming club
Older swimmers (11+) are welcome to join us and entry into our squads will depend on ability and previous training and would be invited for a trial, those with greater experience and skills will be placed in one of our more advanced squads.
Joining as a masters swimmer
Masters swimming is for anyone 18+ and would like to join a masters squad. Our masters swimmers take part in masters events, including Staffordshire County Championships, should you wish to compete.
If you are interested in joining Burton Amateur Swimming Club please complete your details below and our membership secretary will contact you, by email, to invite you for a trial with one of our coaches. If you have any questions about joining then you can contact our membership secretary directly corinagenders@outlook.com
The minimum age to join BASC is 7,
We operate the trial process to ensure that swimmers joining our club are at the appropriate stage in their swimming development. If for any reason the coaches feel you are not quite ready to join the sessions, please don’t be disheartened, swimmers will be advised on what to work on in their swimming lessons and given an appropriate time frame for a retrial date if they would like to do so.
New joiners will be offered a place starting on the first date of the next available term. This is to ensure that swimmers in each stage have the opportunity to follow progression which is then reviewed at the end of each term and movement takes place between each stage.
