  • Everyone should respect equipment/property of all the venues we use. Anyone observed/reported to have damaged venue property will immediately enter our welfare escalation pathway.

Swimming

  • Swimmers are expected to always follow coaching instructions. In the event a swimmer continually misbehaves, ignores, and does not respond to coach warnings, they will be asked to leave the pool/venue either temporarily or permanently and referred to the welfare team for a follow up.
  • If swimmers need to leave the poolside for any reason the coach must be made aware. Swimmers must not leave the pool building unless permitted by a coach or club official.
  • Swimmers should not pull on the lane ropes as this may injure other swimmers and damage the equipment.
  • If a swimmer touches another swimmers’ toes during swimming, this is an indication to allow them to overtake at a convenient time.
  • Any swimmer persistently obstructing other swimmers will be warned by coaches, and then escalated to welfare team if required.
When swimmers push off from the wall, they should make sure there is plenty of space between them and the swimmer in front.
  • Swimmers should arrive poolside at least 5 minutes ahead of the planned start of the session with all the suggested kit/accessories including a drink.

Competitions

  • When representing Huntingdon Piranhas Swimming Club, only the highest standards of behaviour will be accepted, showing respect to the coach, team managers, team mates, officials, and other teams.
  • Report to the team manager upon arrival at the agreed time and venue.
  • Warm up at the start of the event as directed by the coach and fully prepare for the race.
  • Be part of the team. This means staying with the team, being patient for your race, and supporting team mates on poolside. You must not wander off at any point. If it becomes necessary to leave poolside, you must have agreement from the team manager and/or coach before doing so.
  • Listen and respect the team manager(s) and coaches.
We encourage supporting team mates on poolside where this is possible. However, if this is causing obstruction for the officials, respect the instruction to move on.
  • After a race, report immediately to the coach for feedback.
  • Swimmers are selected for events and races based upon official achieved times, their achievements during training, and the recommendations for progression from the coach. Swimmers will be expected to swim these races unless there is a valid reason not to. Coaches encourage dialogue directly if a parent has any questions on this topic.
