After a two year absence, West Norfolk Swimming Club’s annual open meet at Alive St James’ Pool made a triumphant return to the swimming calendar on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th March.
The sell out event attracted visiting swimmers from Wisbech, Boston and South Lincolnshire Swimming Club.
The hosts had a successful weekend, with personal bests and medals galore for the over 100 West Norfolk swimmers who took part over the two days, some of which in one of their first tastes of an open meet style competition.
Of the visitors, South Lincs were the standout; securing the award for Best Visiting Club whilst their swimmers Frank Lamb and Lucy Wilson taking home the trophies for best performing Boy and Girl, the latter sharing her award with West Norfolk’s Wiktoria Marcinek.
The club would like to thank the small army of family and friends who volunteered their weekends to ensure the smooth running of the event under the leadership of meet promoter Amanda Bellamy.
Thanks also go to the event’s headline sponsors Alive West Norfolk for their invaluable support both in putting on the open meet and throughout each season.
