The 2023 Norfolk County Championships kicked off this weekend (14th/15th January) at the UEA Sportspark in Norwich. Six West Norfolk Swim Club members were in action for the long distance events; swimming 10 races and claiming 9 medals between them.
The weekend started off with the women’s 800m freestyle, with Esmie Kidman claiming the Gold medal and Senior Champion title in the 17 and over category.
The men’s 1500m freestyle event then followed with Jamie Wilson claiming silver in the 14 years category, Harvey Isle silver and Daniel Grimmer bronze in the 17+ category.
Sunday was the reverse, starting with the men’s 800m freestyle. Jamie Wilson claiming a second silver of the weekend in the 14 years. Nathan Yeaman a silver in the 16 year olds and Daniel Grimmer silver and Harvey Isle bronze (both 17+)
The final event of the long distance counties weekend was the women’s 1500m freestyle. Wiktoria Marcinek finished 4th in the 15 years age group and Esmie Kidman came away with another gold and Senior Champion title in the 17 and over category.
