Thirty four of West Norfolk Swimming Club’s finest competed against the great and the good of the East of England across the three weekends of the Swim England East Region Championships throughout April and May.
The opening weekend at UEA SportsPark in Norwich on the 22nd and 23rd April kicked off with a personal best swim for Jamie Wilson in the 1500 Metre Freestyle en route to a fourth place finish in the Boys’ 14 Years’ category. Teammate Esmie Kidman then followed up with a fifth place in the Women’s Open category for the same event.
Whilst Saturday saw the long distance events take centre stage, Sunday the 23rd was given over to events for swimmers aged 14 years and below – starting with the 200M Individual Medley.
Belle Ringwood, Eloise Collins, Alex Pattison and Joshua Jones all scored personal bests, with the latter qualifying for the final where a 2 minutes 32.75 second swim saw him take fifth place amongst the 14 year old boys.
Collins and Jones were in action again for the 50M Breaststroke, where Jones again swam a personal best – a feat repeated by teammates Adam Jackson and Rejus Mazeika.
The 100 Metre Butterfly was the next event of the day – with West Norfolk’s six representatives Polly Anderson, Olivia Bradford, Samuel Liddell, Ringwood, Jones and Wilson making it a full house of personal best times.
Wilson’s performance was enough to take him through to the final where he scored a fifth place finish.
Come the afternoon, Anderson and Ringwood contested the 50 Metre Backstroke – with Ringwood scoring a personal best.
The 200 Metre Freestyle concluded the day’s programme – with personal bests for Milly Johnson and Joshua Jones.
