The 2024 Junior Fenland League kicked off back in March this year and after strong performances in all four rounds, West Norfolk Swimming Club, led by coach Oliver Kenny, achieved a place in the recent “A” final. Competing against the top four teams from the league West Norfolk grabbed third place on the night, which was enough to see them finish third overall, in the league of 12 teams.
With the oldest age group being 13 and under, the Junior Fenland League is a great event for the younger squad swimmers to gain experience and build confidence while cheering on their team-mates.
The night started strong for West Norfolk with Oliver Veale hitting the wall first to get the full points in the 12/U 100m Individual Medley. Adam Jackson (13/U 50m Fly, 100m IM) and Toby Turner (12/U 50m Breaststroke and 50m Fly) both grabbed two wins each while Arabella Bishop (13/U 50m Breaststroke) and Jack Baxter (11/U 50m Backstroke) added further first places to the points tally.
Strong swims saw the following swimmers gain pbs through the evening: Adam Jackson, Alexandra Cerps, Arabella Bishop, Charlie Bradford, Elizabeth Litvinenko, Ellie Kitt, Freddie Wakefield, Isabelle Morris, Jack Baxter, Joshua Norris, Lexi Foster, Mabelle Chadderton, Martha More, Maya Marcinek, Oliver Veale, Ophelia Bradney and Toby Turner.
Well done to all swimmers who took part in any of the four rounds, helping West Norfolk qualify for the final.
