Four West Norfolk swimmers have qualified for the prestigious British Swimming Championships which are being held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield – the spiritual home of British swimming.
The event will be taking place between the 5th and 10th April and will serve as qualifiers for Great Britain’s team for the world championships in June.
Molly Lee and Sarah O’Brien will each contest both the 50 and 100 Meter Breastroke events; with the 50
Meter event taking place on Tuesday 5th April with the longer distance taking place on Sunday 10th April.
Like his two teammates, eighteen year old Freddie Laws will also being heading to Sheffield for Breaststroke events – contesting all three distances. Laws swims the 100 Meters on Tuesday 4th, the 50 Meters on Wednesday 5th and finishes his week with the 200 Meters on Friday 7th April.
Nathan Wells has the most gruelling schedule of the West Norfolk quartet, with eight races across the six days.
Tuesday 5th April will see Wells contest the 50 Meter Backstroke and 400 Meter Freestyle with the 100 Meter Backstroke following on Wednesday. The 400 Meter Individual Medley (IM) and 100 Meter Freestyle will both take place on Thursday 7th.
Finally, Wells will race the 200 Meter IM on Saturday 9th April, before closing out his championships with the 200 Meter Freestyle and 200 Meter Backstroke on Sunday 10th.
West Norfolk head coach Sarah Vanderloo is extremely proud of her four swimmers for qualifying for the event, remarking that “their continued success is a testament to their hard work and dedication in training, as well as a shining example to younger members of our club”.
