West Norfolk Swimming Club’s Junior Fenland League team were back in action on Saturday 9th July, travelling to Peterborough for their fourth round fixture.

Coming into the gala, West Norfolk found themselves sitting in a strong 5th place in the overall 13-club league table.

Competition for the evening came in the form of Bottisham; Huntingdon Piranhas and the ‘B’ team from the City of Peterborough.

West Norfolk’s first win came early doors in the third race of the night, the 50 Meter Backstroke for boys aged thirteen years and under, courtesy of Thomas-Arthur Jagger – who came home over two and a half seconds clear of his nearest rival.

William Eagle and Olivia Bradford followed up in the 50 Meter Butterfly events for the eleven years and under age group, again both winning by comfortable margins.

Adam Jackson made it a third win in the age group by coming home first in the 50 Meter Breastroke, following a second place finish earlier in the evening in the 50 Meter Backstroke

Ollie Norris came home first in a closely contested 50 Meter Breaststroke race in the 13 and under age group, just edging out the swimmer from Peterborough.

The twelve years and under age group saw wins for Alisha Greenwood in the 50 Meter Backstroke, swimming a time of 37.17 seconds, and Ruby Stewardbrown in the 50 Meter Butterfly which came down to the wire with Stewardbrown clinching first place by five one-hundredths of a second.

In the youngest age group, for swimmers aged nine, Nellie Quinn Chadderton had a highly successful evening taking wins in two events – the 50 Meter Backstroke and 50 Meter Backstroke.

Once the results of the fixture, and those held simultaneously in Thetford and Huntingdon, were added to the league table, West Norfolk maintained their fifth place position – with attention now turning to the 2022 League Finals on the 17th September.
