West Norfolk Swimming Club defended their Top Club award at the Norfolk County Challenge Gala at Dereham Leisure on the weekend of the 25th and 26th of June.

Guided by coaches Ryan Sykes and Oliver Kenny, the team racked up a total of sixty seven gold medals across the two days of competition in order to take home the trophy.

Fifteen year old Nathan Yeaman was the biggest contributor with nine wins, taking a clean sweep across the three Breaststroke distances on top of victories in six other events.

Rhys Burrell; Dan Grimmer; Pemberley Hornigold and Chloe Bellamy took victories in the same age group with Burrell and Grimmer taking three wins each and Hornigold and Bellamy bringing back two gold medals apiece.

The sixteen years and over category saw success for Harvey Isle (200 Meter IM and 100 Meter Backstroke); Nedas Tkacenko (100 Meter Freestyle) and Esmie Kidman (200 Meter Backstroke and 200 Meter Butterfly).

West Norfolk’s representatives in the fourteen year olds age group were responsible for thirteen golds, with five courtesy of Wiktoria Marcinek and three a piece from Edward Murray and Kristina Sutika-Totlebena alongside a pair of Butterfly victories for Kye Harrington (100 and 200 Meters).

Also winning five gold medals was thirteen year old Eloise Collins who, like Yeaman, was unbeatable across the Breaststroke events. Elsewhere in the age group there were for Daisy Stimpson (50 and 100 Meter Backstroke); Jamie Wilson (200 Meter Breaststroke) and Thomas Baxter (200 Meter Backstroke)

Not to be out-done, the club’s twelve year olds has a five-time winner of their own in Alexander Pattison alongside wins for Florence Collison (100 Meter Breaststroke); Callum New (50 and 200 Meter Freestyle); Milly Johnson (50 Meter Backstroke) and Theo Ryan (50 Meter Backstroke, 50 Meter Butterfly and 200 Meter IM).

Eleven year old Ruby Baxter dominated the Backstroke events and also won the 50 Meter Butterfly to take four wins in total, a feat matched by ten year old Polly Anderson. Both collected the Top Club trophy for West Norfolk at the end of the weekend, alongside eleven year old Cory Hill.
